The former two-division KSW champion is making his Octagon debut in front of a home crowd, but the promotion has skipped the warm-up act and handed him one of the division’s toughest veterans.

Matchup Edge: A 39-year-old striker who can’t wrestle will get tested by a worthy underdog who can grapple.
Let me be frank here… The UFC version of Michael ‘Venom’ Page has been underwhelming, hesitant, and far from the young highlight-reel knockout machine he once was. Whether it’s age or level of competition forcing him to play it safe, the British kickboxer just hasn’t lived up to his Bellator hype since joining the promotion.
The most frustrating thing of all is that MVP is a damn good striker. In fact, he’s arguably one of the most technically sound in the division. Unfortunately, a lot of pitter-patter, gym-style sparring in big fights hasn’t made him the promotional machine that the UFC thought they were getting.
So, yeah, Page has won 4 of his 5 UFC bouts to date, but he has managed to avoid anyone with significant takedown/grappling threats, and that will end this Saturday in France when the well-rounded Nursulton Ruziboev steps up. Page hasn’t faced chaos as of yet, but even worse for him, he’ll face that plus a fighter in Ruziboev who’s a legitimate takedown and submission threat.
Page vs. Ruziboev Betting Prediction
I somehow get the feeling that the UFC is just as tired of Page playing it safe in the octagon and doing little for the company’s stock as much as we are. He’s winning fights, but going nowhere. By giving him Ruziboev, though, they know he’s not going to sit back and play touch-butt with MVP. He’s an all-action fighter who, yes, might have slowed down in later rounds previously, but only the athletic specimen of Joaquin Buckley has managed to defeat him to date, whereas every other UFC opponent has been a victim of lobsided defeats (90% finish rate, by the way).
As far as underdogs go, Ruziboev is up there for me. He’ll match the range and size of Page and be significantly younger, and that 21-submission win record will definitely test the weak historical grappling stats that Page owns.

Nathaniel Wood 1.32 (-313) vs. Pavel Andrusca 3.15 (+215)
Matchup Edge: The disrespect on Nathaniel Wood is real, and his experience will be huge in Paris.
Nathaniel Wood has defeated two of Saturday’s main card fighters (Charriere and Keita), yet he’s competing on the prelims this weekend. To be fair, he is fighting a short-notice newcomer in Pavel Andrusca, but like Page, I get the feeling the UFC are sick of Wood beating the guys they want to push via decision… And that’s why they put him against a dangerous prospect in Mairon Santos.
Well, Santos is out, and we now have a favourite worth backing.
While Wood is a decision machine, the difference is that he deserves more respect for the complete MMA game he’s built over the years. He isn’t a boring fighter at all, and although the judges often get involved, he shows excellent IQ and diverse skills to match anyone outside of the top 145 ranks.
Wood vs. Andrusca Betting Prediction
Andrusca makes his short-notice debut versus a 26-fight veteran of the sport. And this isn’t a veteran who’s old and damaged, but one who’s in his prime with a point to prove. The debutant has some serious power and an aggressive nature, but outside of that, I don’t see him offering much to the complete game of Wood.
This is such a drop in competition level for Wood that I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds his first stoppage win in six years. But of course, we’ll have to cover our backs with the decision and go for the submission-or-decision double chance because his finishing instinct is certainly untrustworthy.
Wood vs. Andrusca Best Bet: Wood by Submission or Decision
Nora Cornolle 1.85 (-118) vs. Klaudia Sygula 1.89 (-112)
Matchup Edge: The underdog is younger, faster, and strikes at a much higher clip.
The manner in which Joselyn Edwards treated Nora Cornelle was a clear sign that the 36-year-old French lady might be out of her depth amongst the elite of the UFC. We also saw her get run through by a mediocre Karol Rosa before that, giving bettors little reason to have much faith in her moving forward.
With that said, oddsmakers still favour her this weekend, and I can’t understand why other than the fact that she’s fighting in Paris as a French native. Her 3-3 record will go against Klaudia Sygula, a fighter ten years her younger who’ll be significantly faster.
Cornolle vs. Sygula Betting Prediction
I know the line is close, but how can we ignore the slight dog in Sygula here? We can most likely expect a striking war and one that will see the dog hold a significant speed and output advantage. In fact, all you need to do is look at the significant strike rate between these two ladies, and you’ll instantly see a huge gap that should make a huge difference when the judges score this bout. And as one final caveat, she recently moved to ATT in Florida, so I expect this youngster to have upped her levels and game-planning even more since her back-to-back wins.

UFC Paris Best Bets Bonus: Aljarouj vs Sintes
Two UFC debutants will go to war on the preliminary card, and I’m loving the 1.74 price tag on the local Frenchman Michael Aljarouj. He’s a sharp technical striker who’s won multiple championships on the regional scene, while his Spanish opponent, Fabia Sintes, is somewhat of a one-dimensional grappler.
Again, I expect speed to be a difference-maker here. Aljarouj sends shots flying down the pipe, and that’s perfect to keep the grappler at bay. I also wouldn’t be surprised if some grappling exchanges favored the French national, because Sintes is defensively lacking in all areas.
