California “knows how to party”, but… do they know how to fight?
Hopefully, because the UFC octagon lands in Sacramento, California, this weekend, as the Golden 1 Center plays host to a 13-fight card with a headline main event involving Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues.
On that note, with 13 bouts to dissect, there are plenty of UFC odds to explore, and I’m back to deliver my UFC Sacramento best bets and fight analysis from the full fight night card.
Follow the Ultimate Fighting Championship markets and compare the latest UFC odds at ibet before placing your fight-night selections.

UFC Sacramento Best Bets
Serghei Spivac 2.20 (+120) vs. Vitor Petrino 1.60 (-167)
Matchup Edge: Oddsmakers have overpriced an unproven, average fighter and made a savvy veteran the betting underdog.
With 15 years of UFC experience under his belt and still just 31 years old, Serghei Spivac might not be a future or former title contender. Still, he’s certainly a top-ranked mainstay who has six losses on his record that came against top-tier talent only.
Vitor Petrino certainly looks the part, and a 3-fight win streak with two stoppages and a 7-2 overall UFC record on paper certainly looks good. However, take a closer look at the cracks, and we can hardly compare the likes of big-titty Steven Asplund and Thomas Petersen to the relatively impressive pro tenure of Spivac.
Spivac vs. Petrino Prediction
When it comes to wrestling and grappling overall, Spivac is certainly one of the more talented heavyweights in this area. He isn’t lost in the striking department either, as he proved versus Ante Delija last time out, notably as a betting underdog in this spot.
So, yeah, I really do believe the oddsmakers have this one wrong. Will Petrino hold an athleticism edge? Probably. Will his striking power be a problem? More than likely. But on skill-for-skill, gas tank versus gas tank, and levels of opposition faced, Spivac is an underdog price we can’t ignore.
Spivac just doesn’t lose to unranked fighters, and this is a huge step up in competition for Petrino. We’ve already watched the Brazilian get embarrassed by the likes of Anthony Smith and Dustin Jacoby, both of whom finished him inside the distance. I expect a similar outcome this weekend, as the well-rounded veteran finds a way to remind us why Petrino was once in the fraud-checked category.
Spivac vs. Petrino Best Bet: Spivac Money Line at 2.20 [+120]
Marcio Barbosa 1.11 (-909) vs. Ryan Kuse 5.55 (+455)
Matchup Edge: A five-fight knockout streak meets a UFC debutant whose record has a lot to desire.
The UFC signing Ryan Kuse was strange, especially at the start of a new DWCS season. His only notable career win came against a mediocre yet former UFC fighter, Kevin Natividad, and his only fight against an active UFC roster member, Cameron Smotherman, ended in a loss. That loss hasn’t aged well, and fighting in Karate Combat last time out isn’t exactly the usual scouting the promotion goes for.
However, when you look at Kuse’s Saturday opposition, it all begins to make sense. Just like the next fight we’re going to discuss, UFC matchmakers are bringing yet another lamb to the slaughter, as the heavy-hitting Marcio Barbosa (18-2, 15 KOs) is going to punish Kuse without a doubt in my mind.
Barbosa vs. Kuse Prediction
Barbosa made his UFC debut earlier this year when he flatlined Denis Bezukja inside the first round. More impressively, each of his 15 pro career knockouts ended inside round one, as this Brazilian brute isn’t your average featherweight.
Kuse isn’t going to grapple here, and from past fights, he looks ready to scrap. This is the perfect opponent to help produce a manufactured knockout for the more powerful and experienced fighter in Barbosa, and it’s the precise result I expect we’ll see.
The oddsmakers have caught on, but if we back Barbosa to win in round 1, a -175 price isn’t bad at all, especially when that’s been his win condition at a 100% clip when victorious.
Barbosa vs. Kuse Best Bet: Barbosa Wins in Round 1 at 1.57 [-175]
Anthony Wint 1.08 (-1250) vs. Terrance Chatman 6.50 (+550)
Matchup Edge: The biggest betting favourite of the night is fancied to destroy an inexperienced debutant with his sheer power and love for brutality.
From Dana White’s Contender Series to his official UFC debut within a week, matchmakers were so impressed with Anthony Wint’s DWCS Season 10 knockout victory on Tuesday, August 11th that they’ve fast-forwarded his octagon debut to what will be just 11 days since his shining moment.
With nothing but a contract that was evidently offered to help produce some viral knockout moments, Terrance Chatman is, without a doubt, being brought into Saturday’s card to feed the potential star they have in Wint. The Fury FC guy has no significant wins; his previous wins are against nobodies, and while he’ll have the size edge, that’s about all he’ll have by entering the Wint bout.
Wint vs. Chatman Prediction
101 seconds. That’s the collective time it’s taken Wint to finish his previous three pro bouts. Despite being just 5’11 at heavyweight, the former NFL and college football athlete presents pure athleticism and strength. Not to mention some serious speed on his side. As such, these physical gifts have helped him collect a 90% finish rate from a 7-0 pro record.
Do I envision Wint as a future heavyweight title contender? It’s too soon to tell, but probably not. However, this is a cliché UFC matchmaking moment where they want to help a DWCS newcomer prove he was worth the contract they gave him.
Here’s the problem… juice! Wint ML? No chance. Wint KO? Ridiculous price. The unders? Don’t even bother. I did find an intriguing price on the fight to end by knockout in round 1, which ultimately predicts the outcome and round. Weirdly, it’s better priced than all of the above-mentioned and even Wint by KO in the first, plus the under 1.5.
So, a first-round knockout is all we need for this bet to cash. Given the eyebrow-raising matchmaking and the violence Wint has shown us thus far, it’s a probable outcome worth backing.
Wint vs. Chatman Best Bet: Fight Ends by KO/TKO in Round 1 at 1.57 [-175]
