Raul Rosas Jr. was seven years old when Raoni Barcelos made his professional MMA debut. Fourteen years later, they are separated by one place in the UFC bantamweight rankings.
That is the wonderfully strange setup for UFC Vegas 121, as the 21-year-old Mexican prospect and 39-year-old Brazilian veteran headline a 12-fight card at the Meta APEX. Rosas is trying to force his way into the top 10. Barcelos intends to prove that experience can still punish ambition.
Behind them, Norma Dumont vs Ailin Perez carries genuine title implications, while Montel Jackson vs Ricky Simon adds another important bantamweight puzzle to the betting board.
From tightly priced matchups to enormous favorites, there are plenty of UFC odds to untangle. I’ve done the digging, so let’s get into my UFC Vegas 121 best bets and fight analysis for Saturday’s full card.

It’s always difficult to gauge the potential of UFC newcomers, especially those with limited experience against elite competition. That said, in Saturday’s TUF finale between Osmanli and Akylbek, Akylbek seems to have the edge we can bet on.
Hailing from Azerbaijan, Osmanli is 22 and already holds an 11-1 record with 10 stoppage wins. And don’t worry about a padded record; his time with UAE Warriors is commendable, especially since his opponent has lost every step up in competition he’s had to date.
Osmanli vs. Akylbek Prediction
Akylbek is a wrestling savant, and that’s what brought him to the Ultimate Fighter finale. At just 23 years old, we have to respect the 10-3 pro record, but is he ready for the deep waters of the UFC? I don’t think so, and while I respect his wrestling pressure, it’s too one-dimensional for me, and his 0-2 record in ONE Championship is also a concern ahead of his first major UFC event this weekend.
Opposite him is another prospect in Osmanli who seems to have a high ceiling. He not only has a much stronger resume, but he also has the grappling skills to match his opponent, plus a striking offense far greater than Akylbek’s. More importantly, he’s vicious, and we can bet that he’ll hunt for the finish from the opening bell.

Rodolfo Bellato 1.51 (-196) vs. Christian Edwards 2.39 (+139)
We’ve already seen Christian Edwards’s downfall, and it wasn’t even under the UFC banner. The former Bellator prospect faltered at the first sniff of stiffer competition, and although the rangy prospect does show similar striking techniques of his brother Leon Edwards, he’s yet to prove he can hang at this level.
His opponent, Rodolfo Bellato, holds a 2-1-1 (1) UFC record, and I don’t believe anyone else on the roster can claim that. Despite this, he should arguably have a win over Jimmy Crute that was declared a draw, and the no-contest versus Paul Craig was just an unfortunate event.
All in all, Bellato is the more well-rounded fighter in this spot. Edwards will need to keep this fight at range in a full-on kickboxing bout for 15 minutes, and I don’t see him doing that against the Brazilian, whose stocky frame should have no trouble closing the distance to land some serious power shots.
Bellato vs. Edwards Prediction
Honestly, I’m surprised Bellator’s odds aren’t a little higher. He’s the fighter with UFC experience, and he’s the fighter who can actually win convincingly at this level. Edwards’ short-notice UFC debut ended in a loss to a mediocre Modestas Bukauskas, and that is more than enough to put him in a fade spot here.
For me, Bellato’s offense is just more intentional. Edwards doesn’t have the power to scare a man, and although he can get technical with it, I believe the Brazilian is actually sharper to the punch, more physically imposing, and definitely the rightful favorite that we will back at 1.51; a price I actually expected to be closer to 1.40.

Norma Dumont 2.15 (+115) vs. Allin Perez 1.62 (-161)
Matchup Edge: Two of the women’s bantamweight division’s finest go head-to-head.
Argentina versus Brazil is what we like to see in sports, but this time, it’s a fistfight. The one and only Norma Dumont, holding the best cheeks in the game, will be looking to avenge her loss to Joselyn Edwards last time out, a fight that crushed her six-fight win streak.
Interestingly, Dumont’s opponent, Perez, isn’t just good competition in the battle of the best cheeks, but also has a tidy six-fight win streak of her own. The difference? This one hasn’t been broken, and although Brazil regularly battered Argentina in the history books of soccer, Perez has a good chance of bringing one home for the blue and white.
Dumont vs. Perez Prediction
This bout presents a classic wrestler-versus-grappler matchup, with Perez holding one of the best takedown statistics at 135lbs. Dumont has excellent takedown defense, but how much can we trust it when her record mostly shows strikers as the opposition?
Both women are strong, which will matter for the takedowns. However, I don’t see an advantage either way, and with the smaller fighter having a lower center of gravity, Perez might actually have an easier time shooting.
I do prefer the wrestler in this bout, and at a pretty reasonable price, we can back the money line without much worry about predicting an outcome… Plus, how can we not root for that twerk-celebration?
