How to play Baccarat?

Most people tend to know this game from a James Bond movie. But don’t worry – it’s not as much rocket science as people think it is. Actually, it’s pretty simple and fun to learn. We will teach you how to play Baccarat in our live casino!

Baccarat rules 101

You can only bet on a hand of Baccarat before it starts. The game starts with two cards being dealt to the player and the banker. The goal is to get as closest no nine as possible. If you’ve bet on the player’s hand and it has the closest to nine, the winnings are simply double what you bet.

When it comes to playing baccarat online you take an observer role, which means that you can bet on both the player and the banker. Then the dealer reveals at least two and a maximum of three cards per range, which are placed face up on the table. There are three possible outcomes in Baccarat: either the player wins, the banker wins or there is a draw. As already mentioned, the aim of the game is to get to a point value of 9 with a maximum of three cards, thus beating the dealer.

If the banker or the player already receives a value of 8 or 9 with the first two cards, it is a so-called “natural” and the respective hand wins. If both games reach this value, it is a draw. If the player with the first two cards gets a sum between 0 and 5, a third card is dealt. The bank draws a third card based on set rules. Finally, the player who comes closest to a score of 9 wins. Before starting the game playing online you have to be aware that unlike Blackjack where skills and tactics are really important Baccarat is an online casino game that is mostly based on luck, however, there are some basic recommendations that you can follow to minimize your losses.

Baccarat tips

  • Both the player and the banker stop, if either one of them gets a total of eight or nine – here’s a little similarity to Blackjack where the bank has to stay at soft 17.
  • The player receives another card if the player’s total equals five or any smaller number. Otherwise, the player remains standing.
  • If the player remains to stand, the banker hits on a total of five or any smaller number.
  • The last betting option, a tie, is paid 8:1. Conveniently, there are also slips of paper at the table where you can record your score.
  • Discount all tie bets: here’s some good advice – treat every tie bet as if it never occurred. To phrase it differently. It’s just a draw, nothing more nothing less.
  • Practice good bankroll management – this is crucial for every game. No matter if it is poker or baccarat.
